THE SEEDS OF LEARNING
*Math: Counting With Friends
-Write numbers from 0 to 20
-Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20
-When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object (one-to-one correspondence)
-Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted (cardinality). The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted
-Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1)
*Reading/English Language Arts:
-Story of the Week: Creepy Carrots! by Aaron Reynolds
*Focus Skills: Connect, Predict, Retell, Cause and Effect, Opinion
-Read Together: "My Body" poem
*Focus Skills: Comprehension, Cross-Checking (Does it look right? Does
it sound right? Does it make sense?), Rhyming, & Fluency
-Phonics Focus: Letter Pp
-Sight Words: play, at, little
*Writing: Show & Tell
-Make decisions as writers AND illustrators
-Write longer labels (or even sentences) to bring our pages to life
*Science: Motion
-Introduction to "force" & "motion"
-Investigate patterns of movement: straight, circular, back & forth, fast & slow, motionless
-Investigate forces: pushes & pulls
